François Monette

François Monette is a composer, an arranger and a versatile music director with varied musical styles. Trombonist by training, he also possesses a diploma of higher education specialized in music film scoring from the University of Quebec in Montréal. He created several vocal groups, including the Vocal ensemble Extravaganza and the Montreal Gay Men’s Chorus, which he directed for close to ten years.

Over the course of his career, he has written over 300 arrangements for choruses and other music groups. He collaborated with many artists such as Kim Richardson, Sylvie Desgroseillers, Mélanie Renaud et Chloé Sainte-Marie.

As well, he composed soundtracks for diverse short films and television projects. As for the theatre, his music has given life to productions for young audiences, notably with the Avant-Pays Theatre and the Vis Motrix company. Recently, the Vive Voix Chorus commissioned him, in collaboration with Jacques Lachapelle, to compose the musical Correspondances written by Luc Gauthier.
